Daniel Porras is a visual artist working in painting drawing and ceramics.  His work is influenced by anthropology, sociology and art history.  He is also inspired by the two culture in which he grew up in Coastal Peru and Southern California.

“In my paintings, I invent scenarios in which supernatural characters are born, interact, connect or coexist. Just as they emerge in my mind’s eye, I want viewers to experience these emergent creatures in landscapes from another world.

In this parallel world, creatures thrive in an organic environment, making the paintings appear dream-like or, at times, nightmarish. I invent images of creatures which interact with other characters that could be products of their surrounding landscape.  Animals that are part human or humans with animal characteristics appear frequently in my work. “
